I wanted to create something simple and fun for Valentine's Day...so I nabbed some vintage pressed cane webbing from the thrift store.

Something you can almost always find at thrift stores is vintage pressed cane webbing- usually on a chair, a table, or a magazine rack. But this time? I lucked out and found four individual pieces...and I couldn't get them in my cart fast enough.
They were, as you can tell, grungy and gross. Since I wanted to create some DIY Valentine's Day decor, I gathered some spray paint in V-day colors.
Vintage pressed cane like this is just BEGGING to be used in large, oversized cross stitch! Which, by the way, is so much easier and faster than regular sized cross stitch...so that's what I set about creating.

In an hour or so, I had a fun, quirky Valentine's heart. I first thought I'd use it as a wreath (because it's so easy to hang). But then...
I decided a cute little Valentine's Day vignette would be perfect for it. Add in some fresh flowers and chocolates, and voila- Happy Valentine's Day!
