Heart Box With Lid | Airdry Clay Craft
One thing I love about clay is how I can make boxes and trinkets of different shapes and color. Lately, I have been obsessing with teal so I wanted to make a box for my mom's earrings. I decided to make a lid for it to protect it from dust.
First I colored my clay with acrylic paint, mixing blue and green. I added more blue to it to achieve a solid color. Then I printed out a heart shape as my stencil. Next is to roll the clay and cut out the heart shape. I made the base extra thicker to support and sides of the box.

I let it dry for 30 minutes before I glued the strips. I also made it a little thicker so it will hold better.
Then I dried my heart box for an hour. While it is drying I cut out another heart shape again but this time it is thinner. I added a small handle so it would be easier to remove it from the box.
And that's it! With such simple steps you now have a customized box. The best thing about this is you can make it in any color and size .You glaze it to make it even prettier :)

Cute project, thank you for sharing. If I may add an upgrade to the lid, trace the outside of the lid if it is the same size as the box opening shape. If not trace the outside of the opening shape and measure in the size of the side wall to help determine where to place a lip on the lid of the box. The lip will keep the top from sliding off. :)
