How to Make Festive Denim and Burlap Star Decorations

I love to decorate my home at this time of year especially with decorations that I have made from upcycled and repurposed materials. Like these gorgeous denim and burlap stars made from scraps.

These stars look so good that you could probably have them as a decoration all year round.
All you need for this craft is some scraps of denim from old jeans and scraps of burlap. Some garden wire or an old wire coat hanger, a few nails, a hammer, pliers and old piece of wood.
Print off from google or draw a five-pointed star on to a piece of paper. The size you print the star will be the final size of your decoration.
Place your star template on an old piece of wood. Then hammer a nail into every point of the star including the indented ones (10 in total).
Wrap the wire around the stars to create a wired star frame.
Remove the star from the nailed board.
With strips of denim or burlap (about 1 inch wide) wrap them around the wire frame. Use Mod Podge (see here) glue when joining a new strip of fabric.
Continue until the whole star is covered in fabric. Then repeat again with another layer of fabric.
When you have finished wrapping fabric, cover the last end in the Mod Podge and hold in place with a pin until the glue has dried.
You can make these stars in lots of different sizes and hang them in a group. Or just make one large one as a door wreath.
This is not the first time I have used denim scraps for a decoration you should check out my popular denim and felt flower wreath.
