I've made these personalized coasters several times -- and they are always a hit! The leather is classic and timeless, and the personalization makes it special. Plus, it's always nice to use scraps, right? This easy craft is affordable, stylish, and resourceful.

Step 1: Begin by using a rotary blade to cut leather scraps into smaller pieces. If you don't have leather scraps on hand, try checking out your local thrift store. Leather jackets, pants, and purses can be deconstructed for leather crafts.

*note: here is the full supply list and detailed tutorial for personalized leather coasters

Step 2: Next, use a rotary circle cutter to cut out 4 inch circles. Cut as many circles as you like to have completed coasters.

Step 3: Once the coasters are cut, use a woodburning tool and alphabet letters to burn initial, monograms, or names, into the leather. Follow the instructions on the woodburning tool for heating and switching attachments.

*note: suede-like and matte leathers work best for burning

So stylish, right? I like to mix sets of several leathers. If you can sew, add a stitch around the edge of the leather for additional detail. Definitely, be creative!

This is a simple craft that anyone can try, and a great introduction to leather crafting.
