Renewing a Thrift Store Lamp

I purchased this lamp at the thrift store. As you see the shade was dingy from age
I thought the base was Brass but it was just painted to look like it. Still a lovely piece with reviving.
I first spray painted it with a hammered finish paint. I love this paint but the details of the lamp are lost
So then I dry brushed over that with Martha Stewart metallic paint in gold. It now has a nice Brassy look
Before you ask here are the paints
I also spray painted the shade white. It looks so much better!! I first painted it with a cheap white but when I turned in the light it didn't look good so then I switched to a better paint and it looks better. For me this is a temporary solution because while it does look good it also filters out some of the light. Not a lot ...but some.
With the light out
With the light on. Do you see why I use the hammered texture paint as a base color? I think it gives a nice texture to it

The lamp cost $4 and I estimated the rest for paint although in honesty I have enough left over for other projects. I love thrifting!!
