Finding home decor can be a pricey and daunting task . I am going to show you how to create stunning home decor using only a few items that won't break the bank, and will have people asking where you got your decor.

Best plate stencils!

Upgrade plain plates with these highly reviewed plate stencils that Amazon reviewers swear by!

My inspiration began when I spotted these dinner plates in black at my Dollar Tree store. At this point I really didn't know what I wanted to do with them. After some thought I decided I wanted to do something with stencils.

Michaels has a great selection of stencils to choose from with a variety of styles to suit everyone's taste. I chose these small stencils the pack had a variety of designs and they are self adhesive so no taping in place!

Next step was to choose a paint color. I chose a simple white. This is paint I had on hand and it is a semi gloss.

I was initially going to use a brush but opted on a cotton swab because of the tiny stencil. I poured the paint onto a paper plate to make the process easier.

After washing my plates and drying, I chose my stencil and positioned in place. Taking my cotton swab I dipped the end in my paint and dabbed on the stencil.

So here is my pattern. I continued around the rim of the plate. Repeating process on the other two.

So here is a plate totally stencilled.

I decided to write the words grateful, thankful, blessed on my plates. If you have stencils you can use them or do it free hand using a paint marker. If you make a mistake no worries just use some nail polish remover and start over.

Taking another stencil I placed it on my plate to finish off my design. Repeat using your cotton swab.

So here is one plate complete.

For my thankful plate I placed a butterfly stencil on the bottom.

Here is my thankful plate.

Here are my 3 plates completed. You will notice I placed the stencil in different positions for each plate.

Next it's time for mounting your plates. You can choose plate hangers, I am using command strips for mounting. These are for up to 9 lbs. I will also be using mounting tape. Both can be purchased at Dollarama.

Flip over your plate and add command strip to middle and mounting tape. Repeat on the other two plates.

Time to mount the plates to the wall. Press firmly for about 30 seconds. You may want to measure and mark where you want your plates, as once secure they are difficult to remove.

I love how this project turned out. Although time consuming it was a super easy project.

So what did you use for the writing and can you recommend anything else for me to use as I'm not sure if I can make it that neat on the plate?

    Thank you in advance.
