This is one of those projects that I love doing because DIY meets paint, and they work together to give a new life to old items like this ammo box.
I don't even remember how old this box is, but I remember that I kept throwing it away from one corner to another till I realized that it’s perfect for the project that I had in mind.
Clean and sand the wooden box, then cover it with two coats of chalk paint. Sand it after drying, to give it a distressed look.
After painting and drying, find the middle of the smaller sides of the box and drill holes to screw the holders. Then drill holes in the bottom of the box, as close as you can to each corner, and screw the legs.
You can use regular furniture knobs as legs, or you can go creative and choose something else, like wine corks or even beads, like I did.
Here comes the painting part! You need a good quote to write down on the tray and color it. Something about coffee was perfect for me. If you feel the same too, then check my blog for the article about this project, and download all the four quotes! One of them will suit you, for sure!
Transfer the quote on the tray using carbon paper, then paint it and let it dry.
Apply a coat of varnish over the painted area to protect it from fading.
Let it dry, and voila!
Could you tell that this lovely tray used to be a dusty old piece of wood that was about to be discarded?
