as part of our big kitchen and dining area renovation,I wanted to add some character to the dining wall....loving the reclaimed wood in the livingroom we decided to do the same thing here....Eventually we will add a wall unit electric fireplace and a live edge slab shelf

Once we took apart tons of pallets the 1st step was to mark out the wall to level since it is a slanted roof

we started to add various sizes of lumber...every 5th row is a wider plank

we looked for wood that had distinct variations from knot holes to discoloration

we had to also move the light switch and plug out by a half inch

*hint. when taking apart the pallets, some just will not come apart that easy..so cut them near the nails to get your various sizes...

top angle cuts were done by 1st measuring how long a piece you need...then measure the widest point and the narrowest point....mark them then use a chalk line to get the straight edge and cut....

our new dining area

the final wall has tons of character...and the total cost was nothing but a box of screws...less then 10.00

have a shelf to do,and a feature to the ceiling by the light left to do

we added some lights to the shelf

and even made a matching shelf with the same materials by the window

we put a small decorative fireplace...this unit is just lights,no heat sources

with cold weather approaching,we've already had some snow,we had to replace the non heat fireplace with one that gave heat out....

I also decorated the french antique chicken feeder for autumn by adding some corn, leaves and other autumn inspired items...

Absolutely love this. Did you put a finish on the wood after? And how do you clean it? Really want to do this to a living room wall. BTW love the turkey feathers hanging from ceiling!

Is that a wolf hybrid? He's beautiful! I always chuckle about the number of people who ask about almost every project, "How do you clean it?" Thinking about cleaning doesn't occupy a lot of my time. Like you said, run a feather duster over it and just enjoy it.

Love your wall! My question is about how you have you turkey feathers displayed, are they hung from wood? I have several I want to do something with.

It's strange to me that people can't hardly seem to stand to see wood kitchen cabinets any more, yet they love to put the same,or worse looking wood over a whole wall.It just boggles my mind how people think,as I get older and more cantankerous,ha.

Well as you can see I have wood lower kitchen cabinets as well,I love the texture and colors of wood and just putting a clear on them for protection brings the wood to life
