Refinishing 60 year old hardwood floors
by

Lots of soiled spots that had to be coarse sanded and still didn't remove completely. After the polyurethane it all blended together pretty well. The wood was age but in excellent condition other than the spots. My question is: Should I put a round rug underneath my round table. And.... I have jungle/tropical theme-What color should I paint? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking

Andre Beluchi on Apr 14, 2016Sherry, great work that you did in refinishing a 60 year old hardwood floor like that. It sure must have been somewhat hard to do the refinishing work on it. Seeing you work has me thinking about my work that I would need to do for my old floors. http://cooperfloors.com/Hardwood-Floor-Refinishing-Fountain-Valley-CA.html

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
I have 60 year old wood floors with a ghost pattern from the carpet and mat that have been on the floor for the past 60 years.... other than that image the floor is great ..... how do you get rid of that ghosting effect .... citrus solves, hot water with vinegar ..... don't budge it.
Thanks,
Bob
Did you have to sand the entire floor and remove not just the stains but the old varnish? If so, did you use a machine for this or was it hand sanded? Thank you.
