A Desk Made New

How did this desk end up at my house? I found this ugly desk at a thrift shop for $30 and thought for sure it needed to be refinished! My girlfriend wasn't quite so sure we should be bringing it home at all..but I convinced her it was a good idea.
How did this desk end up at my house? I found this ugly desk at a thrift shop for $30 and thought for sure it needed to be refinished! My girlfriend wasn't quite so sure we should be bringing it home at all..but I convinced her it was a good idea.
I really wanted to paint the desk, but once I sanded off the old finish I couldn't bring myself to put a drop of paint on it.
So, Instead of painting the desk, I used a natural finishing oil for the base and a dark walnut stain for the top.
I planned on selling the desk once I refinished it. But, after all the aprehension about even bringing the desk home - my girlfriend decided we needed to keep it and the desk now has it's own place in our house!
