French Country Buffet
I love this style of furniture. It’s elegant and always full of detail. When I bought it, it was painted, but I knew I wanted it to look a little different.
It wasn’t bad at all, but I wanted to try and sand it down to its natural state.
First, I took all of the hardware off, then sprayed the whole piece with citri strip. I used the spray because it’s was easier to cover. I left it on overnight.
It’s a really messy job, I forgot to take pictures as I was busy scraping the paint off with a plastic paint scraper.
After it dried, I sanded it all over and got as much paint off as I could.
The drawers were a little easier.
It took a little time, but was definitely worth it.
The mirror came off completely, I’m loving the details.
This is basically how much I got off. I worked longer on the top drawer as I wanted it to be natural.
Once everything was sanded, I painted the body in a soft gray paint by green sheen called putty. It’s an echo friendly paint. I used this white wax from Jolie which gave it a bleached look!
Once dry, I sanded the body with a medium sand block.
I tried quite a few knobs on it, but these were just perfect! They don’t stand out too much, but have enough detail to be noticed.
I lined the drawers with this paper from marshals, I think it’s a perfect combination.
There’s so much storage in this beauty!
Exposed wood is so gorgeous! The movement in the wood is just perfect!
There’s just enough paint left to add depth.
To finish, I used a lemon wax from the chippy barn to give a nice smooth finish.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by.

There was something kind of sterile about the first view, you have warmed it up and made it look elegant❤️
