Painting Kitchen Cabinets

Our kitchen had an update right after we moved in but was still pretty dark. I decided to paint the cabinets and it made a world of difference
Kitchen when we first moved in. The countertop was white tiles with grout. Sink was stainless steel with an unknown goop around the drain and the floor was blue sheet lineolum
New floor, sink, faucet, backsplash, countertops. Much better but still kind of dark
The biggest job was taking everything apart and labeling each door so I would be able to put them back in their original spot. I washed everything with TSP and did a light sanding. Then I gave everything a coat of primer.
I painted the upper cabinets a white called Cotton Ball. Benjamin Moore cabinet paint. The lower cabinets were Van Allen green. Also Benjamin Moore. The week I took off from work was in July and it was hot! I did all the door and drawer painting in our basement. The paint needed to cure a full 24 hours between coats and I did three coats in all.
Putting it all back together after letting final coat cure for 3 entire days. So much brighter now! Totally worth all the work!

Suggested materials:

  • TSP, primer, Ben Moore cabinet paint

I'm about to start my kitchen makeover. My husband is concerned that if I take the doors off, that the screws from the hinges wont go back on correctly because taking a screw out of its hole basically means the hole left behind is unusable. Did you have this issue with the screws and hinges?
