Party Pantry Remodel

I have loved my big pantry but was always embarrassed when someone asked where my garbage was and they would walk into my unorganized-wreck of a pantry. Check out my before and after of my pantry makeover! I invite everyone inside now!

Here is my before...When we built, we extended our pantry so have more shelving and had them add two more shelves above what they had installed because there was about a 5' gap between the top shelf they put in and the ceiling.

We had our trash cans in here and they were usually overflowing. I cook every meal and I have every small appliance ever made and I hated seeing them all over the place in here.

This project was about a year in the making. I had a vision but getting ahold of a cabinet company, someone that could take out these shelves, someone that could wire outlets in here, and someone that could install a countertop was a little tricky in a busy building market.

I took out the three bottom shelves on the L shape. We added 4 additional outlets at counter height and patched up the walls and painted it white.

I used the same cabinet company that did my kitchen and baths so I was able to match the style and color of what my kitchen was. It was a shaker style painted Cityscape by Sherwin Williams. I added a trash pullout, a beverage fridge that I found on clearance at Lowes, and just did full cabinet doors on the long wall with adjustable shelves so I could hide all my appliances. Since the top of the shelf was higher than the normal spacing of a countertop and cabinet bottom in a kitchen, I decided to raise the cabinets to 40" high rather than the standard 36" height. We are all pretty tall in our family so the extra height doesn't bother us.

Tip: When you are looking for countertops - go straight to the fabricator first! If you go to a granite shop that does not fabricate their materials they will not be able to give you pricing because it comes from the fabricator. Also, the fabricator will have a "bone yard" you can browse and get cut off material from other projects and hopefully they have enough of what you need so you don't have to buy a whole slab, saving you money!

I have to get a close up on this wallpaper! It is from Scott Living (Property Brothers of HGTV) you can buy it from Lowes. I had bought 5 rolls of this and it sat in my house for a year just waiting for the perfect spot.

Also, another tip, as someone who has installed a lot of peel and stick wallpaper...I suggest getting a wallpaper that does not need to match or line up with a pattern. It makes it so easy to install not having to waste material cutting to where you need the next piece to line up. This was easy to install.

The party is getting started! I ended up using 5 rolls of the wallpaper and it just makes me giddy looking in this pantry!

All my small appliances are behind the cupboards as well as those hideous, overflowing garbage cans!

We stocked the shelves and the beverage fridge. We are ready to party in the pantry!

What size are the base cabinets? Are they the standard 24 deep size or did you use narrower wall cabinets?

    This turned out fantastic!

I was curious about the corner space to the left of the fridge? Are you able to use it or is it closed off?

It's WONDERFUL!!! Every house should have a walk in pantry. A place to put all those little appliances you don't use all the time. Keeps your kitchen tidy! Thank you for sharing.

I would be happy to have the before. The after is a dream.
