A really quick and inexpensive (OK, cheap!) way to make a curtain rod for a large window and perfect for
Visit the electrical department at your local hardware store and purchase a 10' piece of electrical conduit.
You'll also want to purchase some L brackets (if you don't already have some on hand). For my window, I used three L brackets. And three electrical straps.
You can also attach drawer pulls to the ends of the pipe. I purchased a dowel rod and screwed my knobs into the pieces of wood and then screwed the pieces of wood into the pipe to hold in place. Then affix the brackets to the wall (one on each end and one in the middle) and hang your new easy to make, on the cheap, DIY curtain rod. A great project!!

Super idea! I've been trying to find an idea like this for months. Was it difficult to find a thick dowel that would screw into the conduit at each end?

No problem at all finding the right size dowel.
