Simple No Sew Drop Cloth Curtains With Colorful Tassel Trim

Our playroom was in need of some curtains, and I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg but did want them to be Pinterest worthy! Every home decorator's problem, right?! 🙂

I’ve seen no sew drop cloth curtains all over Pinterest and Instagram so I thought it was time for me to see what the big deal was and of course add my own twist. I should have known, after making my no sew drop cloth bed skirts for the girls that the curtains would be just as amazing! You can see my drop cloth napkins and recovered bench too!

Simple No Sew Drop Cloth Curtains with Colorful Tassel Trim

Here are the simple steps I used for making these fabulous yet simple no sew curtains!

1. Measure your window height and length to see what size drop cloth to buy. Since I knew I wanted ours to be floor to ceiling length I went with the 9 x 12 . I bought this drop cloth from Amazon because it is 100% cotton which allows it to be bleached. *Tip-don’t dry these after washing and bleaching because they do shrink!

2.Next, I cut the drop cloth in half and bleached each piece separately. I followed the steps from Lisa at Farm House on Boone and they worked beautifully. Thanks Lisa! Our playroom walls are painted Alabaster by Sherwin Williams so I knew I wanted my drop cloth curtains to be whiter. They turned out better than I had hoped!

3.I trimmed the loose edges and once they were completely dried, threw them in the dryer to loosen the wrinkles.

4.Once the wrinkles were mostly gone, I laid them out on the floor to attach the clips. No sewing needed because I liked the frayed edge look and the other sides were already hemmed! You can find my clips here.

5.Once I had the clips attached and evenly spaced and folded (about 4 inches apart) I added my colorful tassel trim.

Making The Trim Pink

This trim is from Hobby Lobby, and I loved that it looked like tassels. I dyed it with RIT Fuchsia dye in hopes to match the pink in our rug (I was close) and then used my hot glue gun to attach it directly to the drop cloth! Soon I will share in a new post all about the dyeing process as well as tips and tricks I earned along the way for using drop cloths for projects.

Hanging the Curtains

Once I had my rods hung above my window it was as simple as sliding the rings through the rod and placing them up.

Budget Friendly

By the way this entire project: curtain rod, trim, dye, drop cloth, clips and bleach all together cost me no more than $50! This made me love this budget friendly DIY even more.

My No Sew Drop Cloth Curtains With Trim

It’s official… I am smitten with our new simple no sew drop cloth curtains and the colorful tassel trim! These curtains make our playroom feel softer and add a fun colorful touch too.

Our playroom is still a work in progress (as you can see) and I will be sharing more of it here on the blog soon. The best part is that these curtains make me want to finish this room up!
