I inherited a bookshelf although there wasn't anything wrong with it, I wanted to spruce it up abit and give it a new life. I absolutely love how it turned out.
I started this project with gathering my supplies and adding a piece of wood in the middle as the doors were not wide enough .
So this is what it looks like now. I then painted it out white.
Next I went to Home Depot and got them to cut a piece of plywood to fit the back of the bookshelf.
I then stained it using Min wax wood finish.
While waiting for everything to dry, I wanted to add legs to the bottom. These are knobs from some cupboard doors. I glued screws to the flat part so I would be able to screw them into the bottom of my bookshelf.
I ended up taking the doors and cutting out the middle and purchased some plastic garden mesh from the dollar store.
I measured out my mesh and using a staple gun attached it to the back of the doors.
Here they are finished.
Next I mixed white , black and brown paint together. I sanded my bookshelf and doors in areas to make it look aged then with a cloth rubbed this paint mixture over the entire area distressing it.
Here it is all put together.
