Kitchen Island With IKEA Expedit Bookshelves

I really wanted a kitchen island but the ones I saw in the shops where too small or too big or just expensive.
I had 2 IKEA bookshelves that I bought when I was living in another house. Now, in the new house, they didn't really fit anywhere.
One of them had doors and the other fabric drawers (that I then changed with wicker ones)
Bought customed countertop in IKEA
Bought wood panels to make everything uniform and wooden corners to cover the end of the panels.
Painted the panels and changed the handles to match the kitchen's
Wicker baskets on the other side
Ta-da! A very unique and cheap kitchen island
Enjoyed the project?

Great job, I plan to do this project but my question is, what did you use to keep the two cabinets togethe? I know you used the panels to cover the seams, but did you use anything to keep them sealed together? Thanks in advanced.
How much was all of this
