I bought this set of tv trays on letgo for $5 & decided to upcycle them. They looked pretty shabby. Now they look pretty darn awesome, if I do say so myself. The entire project took 2 days with dry times & stenciling. But with how well they turned out, it's all worth it, I think.
Here is how they started out- pretty blah. They needed a good cleaning first & foremost.
Then I took my trusty mouse sander to them, with 80 grit. I wanted to really open up the top, so I could get the lacquer off of these. It felt like these had massive build up on these, despite me cleaning these with mean green. Normally I wouldn't sand that deeply, but it had far too much build up.
Here are the paints used- art minds chalk paint, & art c ultra chalk. The onyx for the legs, country green for the table tops, the eggplant & amethyst for my stencils.
Here is the stencil I used. I found this on amazon for a great deal!
Here is after my base coat of paints, prior to stenciling. They look so much better already!!
I did different patterns on all 4 table tops.
Here is one of the other tables, so you can see some of the variation. I used a spray clear coat of poly to seal everything once it was all dry.
Here is the whole set together in the rack.
