I had some left over dowels from my BOHO Wardrobe project soooo I decided to recycle these pieces and use them for another fun little DIY project!
Step one: gather your supplies
- find an old small planter pot. Make sure that the sides are straight up and down and don’t have an angle to them. This will make it a lot easier!
- I gathered up all the left over dowels from my boho wardrobe project
- Add a tight elastic band around the pot and start feeding in the dowels. It needs to be tight to keep them in place
- Keep adding them until…. You find out you don’t have enough 🤦🏼♀️
- Then run to the store to pick up an extra couple bags!
Step Two:
- After getting my extra bag of dowels, I lined them up to triple check I had enough
- I got my utensils and added them inside so I could measure how high I wanted the dowels to go. I used a sharpie to mark the height on a couple of dowels
- I used those dowels and marked up the rest of them to the correct height
- Lastly I used a pair of wire cutters to cut all of the dowels to the marked height
Step 3:
- start by drawing straight lines around your planter, use these as references to help keep your dowels straight.
- place your first couple and then add your elastic band to hold them all in place. Continue to add your glue and place your dowels under the elastic band.
Finally, let it dry!
AFTER!!
I considered sanding down the top so they are aligned but… I actually kind of like the little uneven bits!

Cute! Are two of your utensil handles covered in beads? Can't help but wonder what that is
