Do you have space to add some shelving? You could add baskets to the shelves if you want to hide your items.

Hello Pat! Have you purchased any of those cabinet organizer shelves which will give you two levels to store things in your cabinets? I find them helpful to place dinner plates under the shelf and then small bowls or smaller plates on the shelf. They also work well for cups and glasses. Another thing I have done is really downsize to what I actually use and need. Seasonal platters and bowls can be stored elsewhere in a plastic bin/tote. I have a small kitchen with limited storage as well so I understand your frustration!

    Hi Pat,

Here's a project that was done by another Hometalk member that might help you.

In addition, when looking for space - look UP. See if you can hang items on your wall - either with a frame, a back board or maybe a rod. Here are some ideas from other Hometalk members. Wishing you the best.

If you have the wall space, you might add a dresser or armoire (I see nice ones that are very inexpensive at Goodwill, yard sales...). It may need a coat of chalk paint, but will add a surprising amount of additional storage. Good luck! :)

We built a free standing pantry or if you have room build an islsnd from old cabinets. I go shopping at Habitat for Humailty Restore. If you put wheels on them, they can be moved.

For items you use only once or twice a year, install higher wall shelving with a top board to reduce dust settling on items.

  • Oh dear, I hear you! Hopefully you have wall space? You have fantastic suggestions here. In my case, I have only one wall, but that was not enough for all my stuff so I have a shelving unit in my garage where I store the lesser used party sized items or infrequently used items.

Utilize wall space, as suggested above.

Do you have room for one of these (or more)?

do you have any open walls? If so you can buy premade freestanding pantry cabinets.
