Plastic Bag Holder Out of Fabric {Quick+Easy}
My grandma used to have a special drawer in the kitchen that was reserved for plastic bags. Then my mother inherited that tradition, and then I inherited it.
At one point I decided I want to reclaim my drawer back from the bags so I sought a practical alternative. And so, the bag holder dispenser came to be!
You can place this holder anywhere in your kitchen and have those plastic bags within reach at all times. Considering how easy it is to make, there’s no reason for you to not have this useful thing in your possession. This is how you can sew it from scratch.

Cut the fabric
You will need a piece of fabric measuring 18 x 22 inches in size.
You will also need a 9 inches long ribbon, and a piece of elastic of the same length.
Form the bag holder
Set the fabric onto your workspace with its wrong side facing up. Fold both of the short edges in twice for a half-inch and press it.
Stitch the folded sections.
Insert the elastic
Attach a safety pin to one of the ends of the elastic. Use it to thread the elastic into one of the casings you stitched earlier.
Pin the ends of the elastic to the ends of the casing. Stitch the elastic ends in place.
Finish the bag holder
Fold the fabric in half with its right sides in so that the long edges are aligned. Sew the long edges together.
Fold the ribbon in half and stitch its raw edges to the short end without the elastic.
Finish the long edge with a zig-zag stitch, or slice it with pinking shears to refine the seam.
Turn the bag inside out and you can start using it!

Great idea but for those of us who aren't crafty, you can buy one for as little as a dollar. With a hole in the top and bottom, you can feed into the top, retrieve from bottom. I have several I use religiously. Plastic bags will never not be needed. I put them in my small wastebaskets, you can put anything in it, label it, and hang it in a closet or cabinet or up under a shelf. The uses are endless.
