You could use small finish nails or Command strips.
Small cup hooks or command hooks could be an option. Looking at Christmas light display hanging options now should give you some awesome options.
You can use cup hooks, command outdoor hooks, staples, etc
Depending on what you have going on on your porch, just about any kind of hooks that will work with what you already have. Our neighbor used drapery hooks for hers. Saw another person use shower curtain rings and strung her lights through that.
Screw in cup hooks into the timber and then drape the string of lights between them.

Hi Jan. I never found that the command hooks stood up the weather if you put them outside. I would go with cup hooks or finishing nails.
Hanging fairy lights without nails is a relatively painless process.
Remember that small open loop hooks are excellent for ceiling hanging. You can find damage-free loop hooks at your local Home Depot or Walmart.
Using a new formulation of the revolutionary Command™ Adhesive, these Outdoor Hooks are specially designed to hold strongly outdoors - they are water resistant, UV resistant, and can handle temperature extremes from -20 degrees F to 125 degrees F.
For me command hoods have never worked outside, so I use cup hooks . If your porch is exposed to the elements I would go with lights that are specifically for exterior use.
You can use either siding clips or command hooks if you want to avoid driving nails into your house. I use both with great success.
I'd use command hooks as much as you can or wrap them around porch wood or other objects on your porch. A picture of your porch would help answer this.
You can hang them with very tiny nails that will not show on your siding.
Command hooks.
Heres how you can do it to wrap it around your porch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMhCgcWHDrM
Those small cup hooks will work great for hanging your fairy lights!
You’ll need something to hang them from like hooks or something similar. Then drape the lights over those, making sure to wrap around the hook so they stay put.
