Faux Stained Glass Garden Stakes
Stained glass art has been popular for centuries as they look bright, colorful and beautiful. I have always been very fascinated by the art and have tried to incorporate the designs in many DIY's like lanterns, suncatchers etc. The light shining through the glass designs look absolutely stunning.
The actual stained glass art is not doable for many due to the components involved like glass cutting, sanding, gold soldering etc. So I made these faux stained glass, which looks pretty much like the original and they beautify my small balcony garden. Hope you will enjoy this project.
Aren't they beautiful! Lets see how to make them
Materials Required:
OHP sheet (overhead projector sheet), or any plastic sheet
Glass colors
Glass liners/3D liners
Glue stick
Skewers/dowels
Printed desings
Step 1: Print or draw preferred designs on a paper
Step2: Place the OHP sheet on top of the design and trace with a sketch
Step 3: Fold the sheet to make 2 layers and cut out the shape
Step 4: On one sheet, make the outline of the design using the glass liner. You can use silver/black/gold liners as per your preference.
Leave them to dry completely.
Step 5: Fill in the glass colors and leave to dry
You can play around with the colors, give shading using two colors. Make it nice and colorful.
Step 6: Stick the skewer to the other cut piece. Then apply glue on the edges and stick both the pieces together.
As simple as that. Your garden stakes are ready. Just place them in your plant pots and enjoy the beauty. :-)
I love it when the sun shines through these and makes them more beautiful.
Great project to make with your kids and have some fun!
