Terracotta pots are ideal for getting creative with as they are easy to stick tiles to and really give some drama and textures to garden plants .

Terracotta pot

I decide on colour patterns of lilac purple grey and white and black with mix of 10 mm and 20 mm vitreous glass tiles for mosaic. The lip of edge rim is ideal starting point by turning pot upside down and forming a resting point for the row of tiles to start off the pattern.

Glue tiles on

I use pVA glue which also creates a seal on the planter as well as stick tiles.

Glue tiles

I begin building up alternative colours of purple and white and row of black small tiles followed by grey and white tiles for a muted palette and texture.

Sticking tiles on

Next is time to mosaic the top lip edge and begin with little pink square tiles along rim. I do this upside down resting on a ceramic tile to help with holding in place but easily moved.

Once all tiles are dry and I usually leave over night, time to grout.

I use a dark grey mix and work it into all the crevices with an old credit card. It’s a messy job and a little time consuming. Best to wear rubber gloves and get a damp cloth ready for cleaning off the excess grout off .

Grouting

It’s also good to work it into the edge on rim and base. Clean the excess off as you go.

Cleaning excess grout off

And once all cleaned up it’s ready for a beautiful plant to go in!

That is a great project. Looks better than plain terracotta or painted terracotta. Would be very expensive in stores. Good share
