We recently had a lizard come into our apartment through the balcony! Ewwww!! What can we do to prevent it in the future? Thank you so much for your help! I really want to keep the balcony doors open to let air in but I really don't want any lizard visitors!

LIZARDS CAN CLIMB! You will need Security Netting

They actually are coming in to eat flies and other critters. They are harmless if a bit creepy.

they are seeking plants and bugs. I know it sounds appalling but I consider them user friendly. You can get the sticker pads and when they run over them they stick and it insures their death.

LOL, I don't mean to sound sarcastic with this answer - but I would get a cat - they are pro's at finding them and killing them... just sayin'

Don't regular screens keep them out? I like the idea of bug eater, but I would not want Lizards in my house either!

I dislike sticky pads as it's a slow death for a creature that eats annoying bugs. I'd caulk all around the door frame, making sure the metal place is caulked between that and the floor.

Most critters and bugs 🐜 🕷🐛🐸🦎🐝🐞 dislike lemon 🍋 so make a concoction of water, lemon, mint, and distilled vinegar and just get a spray bottle and spray a few outdoor surfaces every few days..

There's a grainul product you may try at your local DIY store called "Snake Away" sprinkle it across the threshold, to prevent it from being tracked in, apply a thin coat of glue to 3-4" wide strips of news paper, pour the snake away on to the glue. The reverse side of old contact paper would also work for this.

  • Do you have a screen door on the balcony? If not, get one. It is a tiny lizard and are completely harmless and the cutest little things, I have lots of them and love them! Feed them a strawberry, funniest thing to watch! Absolutely nothing to be afraid of. I pick them up all the time. I also have a rescue bearded dragon! If you really freakout, scoop them up with a dust pan, take them outside and place in the grass or bushes. Peppermint essential oil sprayed around your balcony will deter them for the most part. Just please do not use anything that will kill them. I am with Sal85902, those sticky things are absolutely cruel. Everything has a right to live, just not necessarily in our houses.

Most of the responses were spot on. Leave them alone because they are eliminating bugs. Most tropical countries want them in the house for that exact reason.

Alligator. Kidding maybe a faux bigger one or an owl.
