Kathi: maybe you could lay in some chicken wire under a bit of soil.

    Try Cayenne pepper.

Cayenne pepper or chili power may deter them. Won't harm the plants.

Hi Kathy: Well, you could try and put some food that they like down, but they would probably just bury it in your plants:) Try a mixture of 16 oz of water and a bottle of Oil of Clove or Clove Oil, same thing, in a spray bottle. Mix it well and spray it around your plants. It smells nice, but tastes horrible. It's non-toxic, so it won't hurt anything or any one. You can buy the oil at any candy making store or your local grocery store may carry it. It comes in a bottle about 2 inches tall and only costs a couple of bucks. Once the animal tastes it, they will give the area a wide berth when they smell it! Good luck!

you can protect flower bulbs/potted plants by covering the dirt above them with a coarse-gauge wire screen/chicken wire or just around the base of plants in pieces this allows plants to grow through yet prevents chipmunks and squirrels from damaging the bulbs or digging in the dirt.Cayenne pepper & spices, oils that burn any animal is cruel it doesn't affect them til they leave area then burns their nose, eyes, mouths, ears and genitals, even their nipples & babies when they nurse them. Please be kind

  • Easy! Rocks! Place river rocks or stones in your containers. Anything that is too heavy for them to push out of the way. My girlfriends use river rocks or Mexican Beach pebbles.
