Good luck!!!!! unless you get every piece of root it's near impossible to get rid of, the more you kill off tops the more it spreads under ground unless you get every rhizome/tuber under ground(impossible)......landscapers used to say to best way to be rid of it is move. Round-Up also comes in a jug that gives you a choice between spray and foam. The foam is easy to work with and get exactly where you want out without getting it on anything else. The cancer danger everyone talks about is being really blown up, it is actually only a problem with people who do landscaping for a living for years and no precautions are taken with daily use. Use gloves and you should be safe. It takes more often treatment than I want to do, so I just hand pull the grasses and other root born weeds that crop up in my gardens.
