I've read in many places that cornmeal will kill ants because they can't digest it.

Cornmeal is the best. They take it back to the nest and it kills the colony! We tried everything from home made to poisons to even bait, nothing worked. Then an old timer told us about cornmeal. We use Jiffy because it is sweet. Pour it on the ant hill or along the trail where you see them. In one application they will be gone in 2 or 3 days. If the cornmeal is gone and you see a few, just reapply. I promise it works! We have only had to add a 2nd application if it rained or the colony was huge. It is inexpensive, safe for kids, pets, and the environment. Most of all it works! I keep 2 boxes in my pantry for spring colonies moving in. After spring I never have to reapply all summer.
