I use moth balls, a few of these will not hurt the plants and will keep the ants and bugs away.

Totally flood it with water. Then drain well. Do this over and over ~ they will either drown or leave.

Try placing a TERRO bait trap in the basket. It won't be noticeable.

Hello Myna: Please sprinkle Grits in the baskets. The ants will eat it and will die. Also, they will take some back to their Colonies, and it will kill them also!!!

You need to re-add the Grits after you water your plants!!!

I hope that this helps you!!! Take Care!

Put vasoline on the hook/hanger. Make sure the pathway the ants are using is completely covered. It will need to be reapplied periodically.

  • packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are coming in if you can find it. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.
