What can I do to keep squirrels out of my potted plants?
I just planted several pots with petunias and marigolds; squirrels are digging in the pots, moving and removing the plants.

Carolyn: you can put some bird netting (black) around them (Home Depot)
We use rocks / stones. Just heavy enough that they can't move them. We went to a landscape supply and purchased a few different sizes to see what worked best. River rocks were perfect, smooth and heavy enough that they couldn't push them around.

Protect Your Containers and Plants From Digging Squirrels
Rocks, stones, brick fragments, flat ceramics that are broken, seashells, oyster shells...to name a few. The squirrels have been really bad this year with the digging, they have uprooted many of my plants, some are salvageable, some are dead. Also putting the tomato cages around them helps, think it messes up their angle of trying to dig.
Wire mesh. They are such pests! One year I had one eat a hot pepper!
