I LOVE antique dressers. Where I live, in western Canada, they are much harder to find then the more populated eastern parts where the settlers first were. When I find them out here in need of love and refinishing I am so excited to purchase them. See how this curvy solid wood antique 6 drawer tall girl went from drab to fab using Old Fashioned Milk Paint in light cream then dark waxed.Pop over to my blog for more free home decor and furniture tutorials.
here is the antique dresser, it has had a few layers of paint over the years including a blue, white and this gold wash over yellow.the key holes were all filled in and knobs put on in place of the original handlesI wanted to bring it back to life so dug out all the keyholes, found a key that actually works, added all new gold hardware including replica handles, escutcheons and new casters once painted.
the body was painted in old fashioned milk paint in light cream then daddy vans clear and dark waxes were used to seal it all up giving it a classic neutral look, the in depth tutorial is linked at the bottom of this post.
new hardware sets it aglow, and the new key works in all 6 drawers
And here is the finished look, many more years service is in store for this dreamy creamy and gold curvy girl! Here are Other one of a kind dresser tutorials
