Paint the wood like cream. Maybe use chalk paint and add a distressed finish. Paint the inside too. Then swap out the knobs and see how that looks.

Oil prime have paint tinted to desire color..Then paint with latex paint..Step one would be a quick sand be sure too wipe it done before priming
I would paint it gray and take the doors right off and replace the china dolls with some cute farmhouse items or antique pieces.

Paint it white, inside and out. Take the doors off, or leave them on,and replace the glass with chicken wire. Farmhouse it.

You could also paint it with chalk paint and do a brighter contrasting accent paint color in the interior.
