Hi, what colors do you already have in the surrounding rooms?

    • Em Em on Nov 26, 2020

Why would that matter? Each room can have it's own personality. You decorate with what you like.

    Hi there,

Choose a colour that makes you happy to be in that space. Kitchen and dining colours that are popular at the moment are greys. You can add more colour with your accessories etc. Choose a Bluey Grey if the rooms are hot or a yellowy grey if the rooms are colder.

For colour maybe a Duck egg blue that is not cold and not hot just comfortable. Traditional Kitchen colours are Blue or Yellow (Cold or Warm) Formal Dining Colours are normally darker such as Dark green - if hot or Deep Red - - if Cooler. Hope that is of some help to you.

Hi! I like colors that flow from one room to another. They don't have to match, just look nice going from one to the next. I like shades of gray, white, blue and green because I find them soothing. Right now my kitchen is Alabaster White from Sherwin Williams. It's not a cold color and looks great. When I update, I may go a silvery gray, since my whole kitchen is white marble, white cabinets, white subway tile and stainless steel. Of course I may change my mind by the time I do it! Colors affect my mood and the way art looks on a wall. Try out colors before you commit @ Good luck and stay safe !

I would select a color that coordinates in some way with the colors in the rest of your home. If you don't want to change the color or stain of your cabinets, think about adding a colorful tile backsplash.

What is your goal in wanting to change the colors of the rooms?

For example, do you want either one of them to seem larger, or smaller?

Do you want both the rooms to appear more connected with each other, or do you want the dining room separate from the kitchen?

It is impossible to envision what your rooms look like now. Please post some pictures so that we can see what sort of space you have to work with.

you need to choose a color that goes with your floors, cabinets, and furniture - you need to decide a color palette first - I would go to a paint store or Home Depot and get paint chips to tape to the wall and see it in different light and how it looks with your flooring, etc. you can play it safe and go with beige or grays -

My default choice without knowing anything further is Sherwin-Williams sea salt. Itโ€™s a bit of color without being dull. It works as a neutral.

Grab a bunch of paint samles in colors that appeal to you and you feel "might" work with the current decor. Tape them in various spots where you'll be painting and view them at various times of the day. One or two will surely stand out as good choices. Then buy a small sample size of each and paint about a foot square of each onto your walls. Check these out at various times of the day and in different lighting. One should stand out to you as the perfect choice.

Are there any particular colors that you like or dislike?

Do you want the area to look lighter or darker then it currently does?

Do you want to go with county or steam punk colors or looks?

    What is your current style?

What are your favorite colors? When my husband and I moved into our first house, we bought a brown sofa. We didn't love it, but we were just starting out and didn't have a ton of money. I decided to stick with earth tones because they were "safe". When we were ready to move, we had a stager come over to the house and the first thing she asked me was if brown was my favorite color. I looked around and realized that I was comfortable, but I didn't really love anything when it came to the colors and dรฉcor. I decided that from now on, I would only decorate with things and colors I love.

  • If your kitchen is new construction or a complete remodel, then your choices are wide open. If you are working around existing elements, like appliances, cabinets and counters then you are slightly more limited. Either way, I would go with something you enjoy looking at, you live there, so that's all that matters.

  • It's doing to depend on your tastes, your tolerance for color, the natural and artificial light in the room. Your best bet is to hit the paint store, grab a bunch of swatches, stick them on the wall and look at them at different times of day.
