Hi Dorene I would start by disconnecting everything and then turning your TV and reconnecting one thing at a time to determine what might be causing the problem. After that it may just be a settings issue, I would check your network settings if you have a smart TV.

  • I would check the user manual for your tv to see what the pop up message is.

Have you checked the owners manual. What brand TV. You can go online with brand and model #. I can only assume the WIFI adapter cable inside the TV may not have a good solid connection. You may need a tech to open up the back of the TV and reseat the cable. Modern TV's receive two signals. One for video and one for audio. Both are different. Hence the lag you are getting. Dust and dirt can get into the TV thru the vents. Some have tried using compressed air in a can and blasted in the vents. Has worked for some...but.

Is this a new TV? Do you have anything connected to it like Amazon Fire, Chrome or a dVD player? There could be a cord attached to one of those devices that could be the problem. I'd disconnect any device and see if the problem goes away, and then add each one back on one at a time to find the culprit.

Who is the manufacturer? With that info you could go to utube and find info for your exact model and with your specific problem.

    Hi Dorene

I would look online for the make and model of your TV and contact the mfg. (sharp, ge, etc) they have tons of info online that can help you out hoping it is nothing serious you can do this! also depending on who your cable provider is, it could be an issue with them - I found this out with Hallmark movies and once I complained to my cable company it got straightened out

It sounds as if there was a device connected at some time in the past. If you are using a provider, they should be able to help you. If you are connected to an antennae, make sure it is connected at all points. Beyond that, I would contact customer service for the manufacturer for help.

How old or new is the TV set, and have you recently added any new services, upgrades, or devices to the set up?

Give your tv a reboot, it may be just what it needs to get in sync again. Also, before you bring it back up, make sure everything is plugged in securely.

If the results are not favorable, call you tv's company and ask what to do, they have a customer service hotline and can advise you on what to touch and what not to.

Have the make and model numbers in hand.

Hi Dorene, use a flashlight and check that all the wires are connected properly in the back of the TV set. Unplug the tv set and your cable box if you have one, wait 2 minutes and plug everything back in again and turn it on. hopefully it all resets, if this is a smart tv, check for updates using the settings button to search

Your set up process may have thought there was something connected, but wasn't. You may want to go through the set up process again if other suggestions don't work. All else fails, call the Geek Squad at Best Buy or other electronics company.

You might also want to download the latest software for your TV. Go to their website.

Oh I would also check your sound settings on the Menu, when I had installed a sound bar I had to fiddle with the settings to prevent that out of sync annoyance.

See if this helps you figure out the problem:

Or: you can always call the tv company. We had a tv that was about 4 years old and no longer covered by a warranty. We called the company and told them the problem. They sent a repair person, free of charge and he came and fixed the tv for us. We've had some great results when it comes to reaching out to companies about their products.

Hi! Do you have cable tv? Check with the company if you do. I know that devices have to be synced on my system. Good luck!

I would call the cable, satellite company or the maker of your tv. Our Tv was a mess and the maker of the TV talked us thru fixing it. Good luck

Did you just hook up a new TV? If so call the manufacturer. Also check your cable menu. There is a section under devices, that lets you sync all your equipment. If you have a universal remote, you must go to their website and sync that as well. I had to do that for the same reason.
