My daughter loves lyre furniture, since she was in college and her sorority's symbol was a lyre. I have been finding her furniture for her new home and found this sofa table for $65 at an auction.
The table base was a great shape, but the top was horrible - it had deep scratches, water ring stains, and was just plain ugly!
Sanded the top and gave extra attention to the deep scratches, even though I could not get all of them out.
After sanding, I added a stain from my favorite staining product Restor-A-Finish in shade of mahogany.
After one coat of stain - the table top is looking great!
I did another stain coat and two coats of clear poly finish and it was done!
All I had to do to the base was wipe it down with the Restor-A-Finish to give it some sheen. My daughter loves the table and can't wait to get it in her new home!
Suggested materials:
  • Stain
  • Polyurethane clear finish

I have beautiful wood kitchen cabinets but the doors are cream color and I do not like the color of doors so I was thinking of painting them black. Can you show me how it would look and what kind of paint n brush I should use?? Thank you

That is really nice! It was simple to do, but made a big difference. I'm sure your daughter will enjoy it for years to come. :)
