Is a Rheem tankless water heater supposed to beep when turned on?

I had a rheem tankless water heater installed Yesterday. It is the model below. It works great. But... each time it comes on there is a small beep. No error codes and it works fine. Maybe it is supposed to do this? Nothing about it in the manual. I have it set at the normal 120. Performance Platinum 9.5 GPM Natural Gas High Efficiency Indoor Tankless

Can you call the person who installed it and ask them about the beep? They'd probably know more than we do, just because they're an expert in that particular system. Hope you figure out why it's beeping!

You could also go to the Rheem Company website where you might find an answer. You will also find a telephone number to call.

Usually a beep is to alert you to something going on with a system, but since you are not seeing any error codes, it may indicate a problem with the error code display. It may not be capable of showing errors, Similar to having a vehicle, the check engine light does not come on even though the vehicle had symptoms developing.

What I would do is to call the service hot line and tell them what you are observing, it has to be under warranty. Have the make and model numbers ready.

Who installed it? Maybe call a plumber to ask their opinion.

I would call Rheem and explain the problem. It sounds like there is an error happening and not showing up. Call the people who installed the unit. They should come back and check it out.

  • There should be a 1800 # somewhere on there for questions. I would go directly to the company for this one.

  • Contact the manufacturer for the best advice.

I would call the mfg or at least the person who installed the tank. From the info I find it says there is usually a beep when there is a leak. https://www.rheem.com/products/residential/water-heating/tankless/tankless-condensing/

Call whoever put it in and ask them. If this was done yesterday they should consider this part of the job to make the customer happy.

Since it was just installed, I'm sure if you call the company who installed it will be most happy to come take a look to ensure there's not a problem as it certainly would be under warranty for at least a few months. Get assurance from a pro so you don't worry about it more.

I’m having the same issue - very annoying beeping/ piercing noise throughout the house every time the unit is turned on. Did you ever figure out what this sound was? Is it normal for this unit?

Yes call the manufacturer in your manual!
