What kind of tile can I put on my kitchen island?

What kind of tile can I put on my kitchen island that is heat and water proof? I love my island but you can not put anything wet( anything with liquid in it that can cause moisture ) or hot (a dish from the oven or stove top). It also gets scratched easily.

What is your Island made of. I would use a wooden cutting board under wet items.Helpful Reply -

Invest in cutting boards and trivits. I have loads of them, from casual to more formal. Even though I have tile countertops, I never place a piping hot glass baking dish on a cold countertop without at least a double dish towel down first.Helpful Reply -

I would use several coats of acrylic. Sand in between so you do not get bubbles.Helpful Reply- See 1 previous
