How to Makeover Your Front Door Without Painting

After this winter, your front door may be looking a little dull and worn. Vicki's front door was looking a little drab, but not so bad that it needed to be repainted. We found a product called ReColor, which seemed too good to be true, but we decided to give it a try. It's advertised as a product that can leave painted objects looking refreshed without painting. And if it worked--no re painting would be needed!

Everything we needed to use the product came in the box, including gloves to protect our hands! The product is really smelly so it was important to work with the front door open while applying it.

It's best to work on a moderate temperature day--that's why this spring weather is perfect. The door or whatever you are using ReColor on should be clean and dry. After the door was dry, all we did was put the product on the provided microfiber pad and wipe it over the paint. We found it best to wipe in the direction of the door grain. It also works on metal.

In this Before and After of Vicki's front door you can see the brightness of the paint and a richness and shine to the metal handle after using ReColor. We were skeptical that it would work as advertised but were pleasantly surprised that it did!

This is the Before, the paint is dulled and flat as is the metal handle and lock.

We love the subtle gloss of the door. It's not perfect, but using ReColor will put off painting another few years! That's a win in our book.

All done at Vicki's house. Now on to Steph's house to take care of her front door. ReColor can be used on almost any painted surface--even those dulled plastic outdoor chairs that many people have. Watch our video for a quick look at how we used the product and to see what else we used it on.

I've used this product to restore the colour on oxidized decals on an RV that "lives" in the desert in Southern California. The product did a great job of restoring the colour and protected the decals from the harsh California sun. Hadn't thought of using it on my black front door at home, but certainly will after seeing how well it worked for you!
