I love decorating for the seasons and holidays. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays to decorate for. In the fall it’s all pumpkins everywhere. For the Christmas season its all about Christmas trees. I love having trees in every corner and space. When I saw this fun DIY idea for faux fur Christmas trees, I had to try it out. I couldn’t believe how simple and easy it was.

Materials

First, gather the materials you’ll be using.

•12” - 20” chipboard cone

•yarn bee fuzzy yarn- in you desired color.

•hot glue gun & glue sticks

•Star mini tree topper

•pine cones, berries or desired embellishments

I decided to try out a 12” cone first. You can find these at your local craft store. They were fairly inexpensive $1.69 for the 12” cone. If you have yarn at home that you can use- you won’t need to buy any.

Adding Yarn

I used Yarn Bee brand yarn and it was the “Fur the Moment” line, colored cream. You can start at the top or the bottom of the cone. I chose to start at the bottom applying the yard. Using the hot glue, I would put the glue directly on the cone then wrap the yarn over top of the glue to keep it in place. I kept glueing and winding until we had covered everything then trimmed the yarn off the tree.

Star & decor

Once I had the tree all wrapped it was time to top it with the star and add the decorations. I wanted something that could stay up all winter snd found the cutest little pine cones and berries at the craft store. I cut the pine cones and berries off their wires and ass then I too the tree using hot glue.

Honestly, you may like the tree all white and just leave it as it is. This is where your style and creativity comes in.

Styling tips

When deciding on where to place your tree, you’ll wAnt to consider if you’ll be using any patterns or colors. If you are placing the piece lower, at, or higher than eye level. In this photo I really wanted my tree on this tiny table. I thought about having it sit on this buffalo plaid plate. But...it looked to busy.

Final step.

I decided I liked the simplicity of it all without the buffalo plaid. It made it feel modern rustic and chic. You could make several trees form a single skien. To see more DIY’s and decorating of our house visit us on Instagram @www.Instagram.com/therefininghome/
