I always stick to home decor pieces. Maybe because I'm still in the phase of redecorating my house, so that is where I'll find some inspiration always. Recently made some candle holders litterally out of some scrap wood pieces and a leg of an old chair. Turned out quite cute and easy to make. I'll share it and show you that you don't have to buy expencive things to decorate your home. You can easily make something unique, while enjoying your work and feel good about yourself 🙂

For this project I used:

  1. Legs of an old chair
  2. Small pieces of wood planks and trim
  3. Super glue
  4. Flower pot plate
  5. Chalk paint
  6. Coasters
  7. Sand paper

First I measured the wood pieces, drew and cut them to size. I was going for that layered look, I wanted each part to be smaller than the previous one. I glued them together with some super glue. Here you can see that I used a wooden plank, a coaster and a trim piece.

Then I found the middle of my piece, marked it and drilled a hole for the leg that I screwed in.

I also drilled a hole in the middle of the top ( of the leg ), placed another little piece of wood and screwed it in, so I will have enough surfice for my flower pot plate to stick on. Put on some super glue again, and glue on the plate. I used plastic plates, but you can use ceramic as well.

Now it was all assebmled. I gave it a good sanding, to smooth out the edges and prepare it for painting. Made my chalk paint, and painted on good three coats of paint.

I wasn't really happy with the "clean" white look, so I did some drybrishing over it with some brown and black.

And after it dried, it was ready for decorating - my favourite part. 🙂

Thank you all for reading this, for keep visiting my page, and reading my posts. Hope I inspired some of you for this easy home decor diy.
