If you guys have been following along with my projects over the years, you know I absolutely love coastal decor! Summer is the perfect time to show it all off. I was shopping the other day, and I came across a cute little "message in a bottle" piece of decor. I was immediately drawn to it, so I decided to pick it up and check out the price. I was so shocked to see that it was listed for $14.99 when I knew I had all of the materials I needed at home to recreate this fun piece of summer coastal decor. So follow along as I take you step by step as we make a message in a bottle!

First, you'll need supplies. Grab a book you don't mind ripping a page out of (this book is an extra I've bought for crafting purposes), a pair of scissors, twine, sand, small sea shells, and a bottle. The bottle can be any shape and size, but make sure it's clear!

I needed to get the label off of my bottle. If your bottle has a label, remove it. I used warm water and scrubbed at it with a sponge.

Once I got the label off of the bottle, I used a funnel to get sand into the bottle. Fill it until you like the look!

Next, rip a page out of your book. I suggest crumbling up your piece of paper a few times to make it look old. You can even burn the edges, rip pieces of it, get creative!

Roll your page up and tie it with twine.

Stick your rolled up piece of paper in your bottle. I then decided to add some small sea shells to the bottle to make it extra cute!

Enjoy! This is the perfect summer piece to display on a shelf. Get creative and enjoy your message in a bottle!
