Upcycled Sensory Board for Kids

Don’t throw away those old diaper boxes and wipes containers! Save the diaper box and wipes lids and upcycle them into this super easy craft for your littles.

First, you’ll need to gather some supplies. You need an old diaper box (or just cardboard in general), several wipes lids (I used 9), some packing tape, hot glue, paint pens, scissors, and photos.

For the photos, you can use whatever you like! We are big Atlanta Braves fans, so we wanted to start educating our little on some of our favorite Braves players (past and present). But the possibilities here are endless—use family photos, feelings faces, even holiday-themed (I’m thinking advent calendar for Christmas??). Pick whatever you’d like!

First, cut out the pictures and lay them out on the cardboard, making sure to have enough room for the wipes lids to go over the pictures. Secure the photos to the cardboard with packing tape.

Then, hot glue the wipes lids over the photos.

Finally, it’s time to decorate! Get some paint pens (I got mine from Amazon) or markers and decorate the cardboard.

A close up view of the finished project. I wrote the players’ names and numbers on the inside of the wipes lids.

Now, let your little one figure out how to open the lids to view the photos. Our little guy is 4.5 months old, so this will take a little time. But he is already fascinated! This is great for fine motor skills development and facial recognition skills.
