Board & Batten: DIY Tutorial Without Miters or Nails #30DayFlip

Until about a year ago, I had a love-hate relationship with board and batten.
Honestly, it was actually with woodworking of any kind.
I loved how it looked, but absolutely hated how much it cost.
And, I actually don’t know when the epiphany hit, but one day, I had a light bulb moment that would change my life….and my home….forever.

It was the day that I replaced emotion with action.
And came up with a B and B plan…….with zero miters and zero nails.

I know, it sounds crazy, but I’m not kidding. I simply cut and glued my way to custom-made woodwork.

And, you can, too.

The trick is to break it all down into steps.
To make the wall strips, simply (1) measure the length for the screen molding, (2) cut the molding to length, (3) smear glue on the back, and (4) stick it to the wall using a level and tape. When the glue is dry, remove the tape and caulk up the edges.
Then, follow the exact same steps for the horizontal wall top. The only difference is that the screen molding is first glued to a strip of lattice molding and then glued to the wall.
Window Valance:

For the valance, just follow the steps again to create boxes across the top of the wall.
Amazing, isn't it?

It was so easy. These have to be the shortest instructions ever. :-)

Hope you are inspired to give it a try.

If you have any questions or comments, please send them my way.

It's always good to see you.

Many thanks.
