Make a Canvas Art Piece for Cheap but With a High-end Result
Use dropcloth and tissue paper to make this simple home decor project that will have your friends asking how they can make their own!
Grab some drop cloth and the kind of tissue paper that you use to wrap gifts and make your own art.
Trim the tissue paper to the size of regular printer paper, and tape it to the top of the printer paper. This will act as a carrier sheet and it should go through your printer just fine. As soon as it comes out of the printer, give it a coat of acrylic sealer. If you don't have acrylic sealer, aerosol hairspray will work!
Use a thick coat of mod podge to adhere the paper to the drop cloth. Let it dry then add a top layer of mod podge.
Wood slats of any kind will work for the top and bottom of this piece.
Trim your boards down so that they are the same width as your art piece. Be sure you trim your dropcloth close at the side edges then leave enough room at the top and bottom so that the slats won't cover your art. Use wood glue to attach the slat boards to each other while sandwiching the drop cloth. When you repeat this process on the top don't forget to add a length of twine between the slats to hang your piece.
