This footstool was created from floor to top with recycled thrift store items.

I purchased two pairs of legs from Goodwill years ago. They are NOT identical! One pair is plain finish and the second pair are carved slightly. But they were the same shape and color. The wooden disc was also bought at a Goodwill too. Hubby alternated the legs (per my request) and attached them to the disc using L brackets that we had at home. I turned the base over and placed the disc on a leftover piece of foam. Used a marker to draw the cushion shape. Next hubby took my trusty electric knife and as I held the foam, he cut the circular piece of foam for the cushion.

TIP: An electric knife can be used to cut through thick foam. Yes, the same electric knife you use on a turkey or ham! We have used it numerous times for different projects I have done.

I had a mattress pad I was recycling for several things. I cut a band of it the go around the circumference and also cut a piece to cover the foam top. I sewed these pieces together and pulled it over the foam very tightly.

I flipped the base over and pulled the cover under the wooden disc and stapled the mattress pad down so that the foam will NOT slide or move.

I purchased this upholstery remnant from St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. I cut a circular piece for the top of cushion and several 3 inch wide strips on the bias to make my 2 rows of piping. I also cut the side band on the bias and then panels with stripes going vertically for the skirt. I wanted to use the fabric all possible directions to make it unusual. I hand pleated the skirt and then pressed the pleats. I love the way the stool turned out. If you have questions, feel free to ask me. Hope you will take time to check out my other projects. You might find something that you want to make for your home.
