I found this cool, vintage trunk at an estate sale a few years ago. It's one of those pieces that's been moved around the house a lot.
I had originally put wood legs on the bottom, but eventually they came off. I had attached them incorrectly, using an epoxy. Major mistake! Over time they popped off. I learned my lesson and used wood blocks to attach some casters to the bottom.
I attached the wood blocks with wood glue to each corner, then drilled through the wood block into the trunk. I screwed the casters into each hole, tightened them and added a nut to keep them on tightly.
On the inside of the trunk, I removed all the old paper and sealed the wood with shellac. Now I can store blankets in the trunk!
I cleaned up the outside of the trunk using some clear wax and I was done. In under an hour I had a fun and functional vintage trunk coffee table.

This piece is so cool! I'd love to have something like that.

I plan on doing something similar with my father's WW-II army trunk. Since I don't want to put holes in the bottom I plan on making a base for it to sit on. I love the look.
