Handmade Handprint Christmas Ornament Ideas!

It's hard to believe, but the holidays are COMING! And one of my favorite things to do around the holidays each year is make a special ornament by hand. Don't get me wrong, I don't have endless hours to sit around crafting each Christmas, but I do carve out about an hour each holiday season to make an annual ornament with my kids.
We use run-of-the-mill, unbreakable (that's key) ball ornaments.
The kids also paint their own ceramic ornaments. These can usually be found in your local craft store for typically $1 each (sometimes less).
But my FAVORITE type to make are the handprint ornaments. We've done ALL KINDS of these...snowmen (like above), Santas, reindeer, penguins, nativity scenes, angels, trees, etc.

It's a great way to capture a moment in time and be able to pull it out each holiday season and remember how cute their little paw prints were, and how they've grown over the years. The great thing is, these ornaments are NOT hard to make, and they require very little in the way of supplies, none of which break the bank.

A full supply list of everything that you would need to create one of these can be found on the blog! Link at the bottom of this post. We make a different ornament each year.

I let the kids pick all the colors for whatever embellishments there happen to be, and the older kids now write their own names and ages on the ornaments, too.

The best thing about this project is that no matter what, they will turn out perfectly. No amount of paint smearing or smudging could detract from the magnificence of those little paw prints captured for eternity in a treasured tree ornament that you can enjoy year after year.
