Cait from Little City Farmhouse refreshed this sweet little wash stand with a clean coat of our pure white, Simplicity and some of our new glass knobs!
Hello! I’m popping in to share with you a lovely little washstand I refinished!

Long before I started refinishing furniture, I used to get bugged about how I painted everything white! I love it!! My kids like to tell me white isn’t even a colour! It’s still my favourite – it’s so fresh and clean and simple and goes beautifully with everything!
I started this little washstand by sanding the top completely and staining it a nice dark walnut. When it was fully dry, I coated it with two coats of Tough Coat. Tough Coat is a beautiful finish with the perfect amount of sheen!
I then painted the bottom in three coats of Simplicity in the All-in-One paint. White can be a tricky colour to get full coverage with, especially if you are painting over a dark surface. My cabinet was dark wood and because I prefer to give my pieces lighter coats of paint, I gave it three coats.
When it was dry I gave it a really good sanding with super fine grit sandpaper. Every time I sand this paint I am so impressed with how smooth the paint gets! I distressed the edges to give it some character and to tie in the dark top. Because this paint is so durable, it doesn’t require a topcoat.
We added a little sparkle to this cabinet with Country Chic Paint’s new knobs! These mirrored glass knobs are so stunning! They were the perfect touch to take this cabinet from sad and boring to bright and happy!
