Chocolate Candy Ornaments

Do you have some ugly ball ornaments laying around that need perking up? Why not make some chocolate candy themed balls?!!!
You will need plain round ornaments, new or old.... I picked these up at a flea market 12 for a $1.00! Other things needed will be brown spray paint, Snow -Tex, & whatever little embellishments you want to add to your frosting. I will be using crystal dazzlers (aka: table scatter found at Hobby Lobby or such in the floral department) & seed beads for my embellishment.
Take the hangers off your balls then poke the end into cardboard, Styrofoam or whatever you have handy to make them stand up, then spray a couple of light layers of brown paint over them until they are evenly coated, letting them dry between coats.
Once the paint is dry the fun part starts! Grab a paint palette knife or a small stiff bristle cheap paint brush & ice the top of your ornament with snow-tex making drippy icing down the sides. While the snow-tex is still wet using the tip of a needle to hold your seed beads & press them into the snow-tex randomly, leaving space for your larger crystal dazzles, & let dry. I cut bands from an empty paper towel or toilet paper roll to use to stand them in while the snow-tex dries.
Once the snow-tex is dry, spray a coat of clear over the balls to protect the white snow-tex. Once dry add your larger embellishments using a bit of glue that will dry clear behind your crystal scatter to attach them, & let dry. I've decided I probably should have covered the hanger part with snow-tex too, or painted over it to look like a cherry but haven't gotten around to that...........
Before, during, & after photo of the ornaments! They make great decoration for your kitchen during the holidays, or anywhere you have a candy theme going on! Enjoy!

Adorable Katrina, what did you use for the "gummies" if I may ask? Can't tell by the pictures. The whole ornament reminds me of a gingerbread ball :)

Did you think about turning them upside down and putting them in an ice cream cone they could be used as name tags for a table and a take home gift to use for many years to come. Beautiful job.... :)
