Christmas Home Tour

Welcome to my Christmas Home tour. It's been a little chaotic this year decorating for Christmas with a newborn, but it has given me something to do during nap-time and in between baby snuggles. My little girl stares at the Christmas lights and it is amazing to think next year she will be moving around and participating more in the Christmas celebration. For now we are just enjoying the lights together.
This year our tour starts with the entryway. I purchased some microlights to put inside some glass domes I made from old clocks, by removing the clockwork and just leaving the glass. I like the lantern effect they give, and I added a Coleman lantern for a pop of red on the shelf. The mini Christmas tree is decorated with a pom pom garland I made last year.
Next head over to the hot chocolate station to warm up. The bar cart is another DIY that was a furniture makeover with spray paint and chalk paint. Now it displays my Rae Dunn pottery collection, as well as hot chocolate fixings. Will you choose the Naughty or Nice mug?
As you empty your mug and step into the kitchen you are greeted by some festive boxwood wreaths I hung over the cabinets with some candy-stripe ribbon. I love the look of a white kitchen with touches of red.
I added a garland with some Christmas lights on top of the shelving to bring more cheer. The husband actually cleverly figured out how to add a hole in the top of the cabinets so we could plug in the lights above the microwave and avoid a battery powered strand.
Make sure to grab a cookie on your way out.
Next up get ready to count down to Christmas with a chalkboard advent calendar. Small ornaments are hung with some gift tags I hand-stamped. When my daughter is older I will let her do the honors of taking each ornament down to put on the tree during the Advent season. I hung the ornaments with some more candy stripe ribbon.
Since we don't have a real fireplace I draped our stockings on our TV console that I picked up at an antique market. We don't know exactly what purpose it served in its former life--maybe some kind of mail storage? Regardless it serves as our faux mantel and a good place to watch a crackling fire courtesy of Youtube.
Pops of red continue with the burlap stockings and some ornaments I placed in an antique bread bowl along with pinecones and some mason jar candles I made last year for my sister's wedding.
Last, before you leave, enjoy the lights on the Ski-themed Christmas tree.
